The town of Princess Anne, named after Princess Anne daughter of King George and Queen Anne of England, has origins dating back to 1733 and a remarkable history with many historic homes and buildings. The oldest surviving building, constructed in 1755, is the William Geddes House also known as Tunstall Cottage. The Teackle Mansion once home to Littleton Dennis Teackle and Elizabeth Upshur Teackle is probably the most famous exhibit of the town’s historical significance dating back to 1802.
Princess Anne Memorials, started by James and Erlene Hinman, purchased one of the town’s historical homes and began Hinman Funeral Home in 1958. This beautiful landmark was built in 1895 by Joshua Weldon Miles, a U.S. Congressman and attorney, as a family home.
Both businesses are still owned and operated today by the Hinman family. The historic home has been remodeled and updated over the years to offer modern facilities and conveniences.
