Care & Maintenance
Caring for your memorial will ensure its longevity and maintain its integrity for years to come. Learning proper care and maintenance processes can help prevent cracks, moss and other elements from compromising the integrity of your granite memorial.
Granite memorials can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush, a microfiber rag and water. Perform any cleaning in the morning as the memorial can get hot in afternoon sun, rendering it porous, which means it will stain easier. If water does not do the trick, proceed with a diluted glass-cleaning spray and gently buff the surface. If debris like grass or bird feces is present, it is safe to gently scrape the surface of the memorial with some very fine steel wool.
Do not use chemicals or solvents to care for your memorial. Not only can they be abrasive (scratching the surface), they can also stain the stone. Solvents can also remove the paint used for the lettering and designs. Black granite is more prone to scratching and should be treated with extra care.
Do not attempt to fix a crack. Do not attempt to move the memorial as this can result in serious injury. Should you find that your memorial has developed a crack, please contact us immediately.
